Araucaria heterophylla, commonly known as the Norfolk Island pine, is an evergreen tree native to Norfolk Island in the Pacific Ocean. It is known for its symmetrical, pyramidal shape and dense, soft, needle-like foliage arranged in horizontal whorls. The tree can grow up to 60 meters in its natural habitat but is typically much smaller when grown as an ornamental plant, often seen at 2-5 meters tall in gardens or as a houseplant. Araucaria heterophylla prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil and thrives in full sun or partial shade. While hardy in tropical and subtropical climates, it is also popular as a decorative indoor plant in cooler regions, especially during the holiday season, due to its tree-like appearance.
